US
Forces in Austria
Historical Research

This
page will be used to post written requests for information
submitted by veterans, family members, historians and/or anybody
else who is involved in a legitimate and sincere effort to
study the history and role of the United
States Forces in Austria and related issues. Because
of my own limited resources, the webmaster does not guarantee that
all requests will be posted or that all questions will be answered.
However, the visitors - especially the USFA veterans - who visit
the web site are encouraged to provide whatever information that
they might have relevant to a particular topic.
The webmaster also reserves the right to
edit questions (especially spelling of German names) and to exclude
any questions or comments that may be perceived as offensive or
improper. (No political statements, please!).
I don't know yet how this page will evolve or what format I will
eventually use, but here goes...

Mr.

Sawicki's "Infantry Regiments
of the U.S. Army" indicates the 350th Infantry was
"inactivated 15 August 56 in Italy", I'm guessing
at Camp Darby or Livorno. 350th veterans at the 2000 88th
Division reunion confirmed the regiment moved to Italy
for about a year after USFA disbanded. What were the movements
and mission of the 350th and other USFA organizations
while still in Europe after the shutdown of USFA after
1955? (11-9-2001)
